Shortly after our last entry the container ship finally landed in Oakland Harbor. Unfortunately our Container was listed for an X-Ray-Exam which leads to another delay. We can not get to our Van until Monday. Besides of that we are having a lot of fun. We explored Oakland Harbor by foot and by ferry. We saw many container ships but we could not find the Seoul-Express.

In San Francisco we visited the remaining tourist spots: First we visited the most winding road of San Francisco. Because it was too steep for most vehicles a road with 8 turns in 145 m was built. Close to this lies the steepest road of San Francisco with a grade of 31,5%.

After this we headed to Presidio. The former military base is now a park with several industrial buildings. Nerd alert number 1: We visited LucasArts and Lucasfilm. It was great even though we could only visit the Yoda-Fountain and the Lobby with some StarWars-Props.

Now that we had seen a lot of Oakland and San Francisco we desided to rent a car. On wednesday we drove through Silicon Valley. Nerd alert number 2: We walked in Google’s Android-Park and visited the Headquarters of Apple. Unfortunately we had to remain outside…

Instead of driving directly back to Oakland we made a detour to Wallnut Creek. There we visited Rocco’s Ristorante Pizzeria, because I wanted to visit the owners son, who I got to know last year in Namibia. Dante welcomed us heartly and we had a wonderful international evening in an amazingly decorated Restaurant (and the food was great!). The Menu contained many italian spezialities including pronunciation for Americans. Thanks again, Dante for the delicious food and the great evening!

On the last day in the Bay Area we drove to the Muir Woods. Visitor numbers were low because of the slight rainfall. We really enjoyed exploring the park with it’s giant trees. After this we drove up to the peak of Mount Tamalpais with it’s fire lookout tower. Nerd alert number 3: This mountain is known as the birth place of mountainbiking.

Our Plans for the weekend had to be changed because of storm and snowfall in Yosemite National Park. We are heading south now and will explore Hollywood and LA.
