Finally we are reunited with our Emma! Only one signature was necessary and we were allowed to drive out of the harbor.
After a big shopping trip for food and camping stuff we tried to find a place to stay over night. Unfortunately the only campground in the area was inaccessible, so we decided to sleep on a little parking lot in the woods – our first night.
Our first destination was Sequoia National Park. Down in the valley we enjoyed warm temperatures at 28° Celsius. The more we climbed the spectacular road the harder it rained – even snowed! The thermometer of our Emma showed only 2°C! We simply ignored the weather and visited General Sherman Tree (the biggest tree of the world by volume) and some of his old, big friends. The weather report was better for the next day, so we went to a campground, where Nick found some wildlife…
Next morning we were rewarded with beautiful but cold weather. We followed the Ranger’s suggestion and visited Moro Rock – a huge Rock you can climb on by 400 steps. On top we saw mostly the clouds over the valley, but the snowy peaks of Sierra Nevada were clearly visible.
Our hike lead us through beautiful areas. Because of the snow and the pretty bad signposting of the trail it was more a treasure hunt than a hike. But we enjoyed the day, it was simply mind blowing!
Because of heavy snowfall all roads that lead through Sequoia were closed, so we had to descent and drive all the way around the Park to reach Death Valley.
