After dropping off our van we visited Downtown Dartmouth – the town on the other side of the bay of Halifax. It was not too exiting, so we took the ferry over to Halifax. While riding over we already see the famous Bluenose II, the beautiful wooden ship that is also on the canadian dime. Unfortunately we missed the last tour, but we were able to go on board an look at this beauty.

Saturday was markets day. Along the waterfront in different places we went tasting, shopping and observing. Unfortunately we weren’t able to buy lots of food, our last day comes closer and closer! After the markets close at noon, we stroll through the green city. We even enjoy a concert in the „Public Garden“ and watch people play baseball in the park.

On a hill above Downtown watches an old fort over the city. The Halifax Citadel is a National Historic Site and can of corse be visited. We too visit the caves, rooms and exhibitions in the fort along with all the tourists from the cruise ships in the harbor.

In the evening we can enjoy astonishingly great music at an open mic night in one of the many bars.

Of corse we don’t visit a city that long without shopping, and monday is time for this. But we don’t spend too much money on that, because we wanna celebrate our journey on the last night! So after shopping, we drop our stuff in our apartment and head downtown. The area is famous for it’s great rum, so we go and visit the distillery downtown to do a tasting.

After this we definitely need some food, and the restaurant we chose for our final dinner in canada is just amazing! It was the best food we had in a restaurant and even top the main course with a Chocolate-Chip-Ice-Cream-Sandwich as a dessert. Just great!

Tuesday it is time to say goodbye. We had an amazing time, met so many great people – and yet we are looking forward meeting our friends and family.
