Of corse I had to test the trails of the US Bike-Mekka Moab. The shuttle of my choice was an old VW-Van which brought me up hill to the snow line. The trail was easily found – I was not alone. By turns it was a Single Trail, 4×4-Trail (which are not to be underestimated!) or rides across rock. One thing was constant on all kinds of trails: not enough downhill. So I saw myself defeated by Canadian Cross Country Bikers in even passages but was able to catch up in gruffer parts of the trails. After strenuous 3 hours, 45km and 1400m difference in altitude I was back in Moab.
After a night on a secluded Campground close to the cliff, I chose to ride the Slickrock trail. 1.5 hours on a Bike trail on 95% solid Rock! But again it was all up and down – my dropper seatpost finally resigned.

The afternoon we went to Arches National Park. Simply impressive.
Next National Park was Bryce Canyon. At 0°C we hiked a trail down the canyon to the different rock formations. Again some trails were closed for season.
For the night we decided to drive to warmer regions. So we drove down to Zion, were temperatures were comfortable.
We didn’t go up to the top of Angel’s Landing next morning. Too many people had the same idea to take the first shuttle in the morning. The last part you have to climb over rock, only holding on to a chain. We decided not far from the top to turn around, so many people made this “path” too dangerous.
