After our great visit we had enough energy to drive the way to the coast. More southern than planned we hit the coast at Morro Bay (we had to buy a little gadget, which was worth the detour). The little town by the sea has a little touristy spot down by the harbor, where we spend the evening. Towering high over the harbor the chimneys of the old power plant.
Because of heavy road damage Highway No. 1 is unfortunately closed. We took a serpentine road to the coast close to Lucia. 8 Miles south and north the road was closed, so we could leisurly explore the region. From our Campground by the cliff we could spot sea lions and even whales! But we also had to share our spot with squirrels and a tiny tiny rabbit.
We headed on to the Surfer-towns Capitola and Santa Cruz (with it’s park directly at the beach). Laughing, amazed and with a bit of disapproval we walked the towns.
We quickly quit our plans to stay in Half Moon Bay when we saw the prizes. The fog chased us up hill to a little park where we spend the evening and camped close by.
Again we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, now with our Emma. In Bodega Bay we occupied a spot on a campground and tried to go to town on our bikes. Heavy winds didn’t make this excursion an easy one. We even chose to eat inside of our van, so our Risotto won’t be spread in the wind!
