After our impressive stop in Las Vegas we stopped for the night at Lake Mead. On the old train trail we could take a leisurely ride on our bikes to the famous Hoover Dam, which impounds the Colorado River to the massive Lake Mead.
Road 66 was the route to take for getting to Grand Canyon. Of corse we stopped at the Tourist Shops along the way with uncountable car wrecks.
On the south rim of Grand Canyon we used the free shuttles to get around. For getting back to the village we decided to walk along the Rim Trail. After thousands of tourists in the park we happily fled to the desert and enjoyed a night in the wild. Next morning Monument Valley was on our list.
Monument Valley belongs to the Navajo Indians and every tourist can drive the dirt road around the mesa (table mountains). But we wouldn’t recommend it to people with rental cars, because it is quite bumpy. Our Emma luckily mastered the track without damage.
In Mesa Verde National park we could see the century old housings from far. Unfortunately the guided tours were already sold out and a lot of sites were closed for season…
