By ferry we entered Seattle in the middle of downtown after an hour long ride. After exploring the waterfront we headed to famous Pike Place Market where we tried to get on through thousands of tourists. Everyone was busy selling or buying fish and flowers. Some fish even flew from one table to another!

We also had to visited the park around the Space Needle. But the tickets were far too expensive for going up, so we simply enjoyed the beautiful fountain. A beautiful afternoon!

The evening we spent on a beautiful RV-Park where we were grateful to use a 6×2.5m asphalt area. And all for a higher price than everywhere else before! Camping around big cities is definitely not recommended.

For sunday we had booked the famous Underground-Tour. After the big fire in 1889 seattle was liftet about 10m above ground and solved like the problems like floods and exploding toilets. The roads were equipped with retaining walls, the former roads  got a roof and the entrances of the buildings lifted several floors. Now Seattle has a big underground city. The tour lead us past old buildings, bank counters and hotels and the tour guide told us the whole story including some funny facts.

Northern of Seattle are the Boing factories. Here too we took part in a tour. But here nobody was aloud to take cameras into the factory, not even cell phones, so we don’t have pictures for you. But we saw how in the biggest building (by volume) the 747, 767 and the 777 were put together. 20000 people work here in shifts or playing Ping-Pong. Maybe that is why you are not allowed to take pictures.

On the company-owned runways big parts like wings and fuselages are flown in from all over the world. Boing constructed for this purpose the Dreamlifter (a modified jumbo).

The rest of the day we used to prepare Emma for crossing the border to canada. Fresh food was eaten, all dirt washed off bikes and van and the firewood burnt. We wanted to be on the safe side, so we get over quickly.

After our border control of the US we were expecting everything, except this: After 20 minutes in line the canadian border-lady greeted us in perfect german, asked us 2-3 questions and wished us a pleasant stay! Welcome to canada!
